Yasmine Mosimann is a multimedia journalist with years of experience covering the Middle East.

She is currently an editor on AFP’s Middle East and North Africa English desk – editing and guiding the wire service’s coverage from Iran to Morocco from their regional hub in Nicosia, Cyprus.

She previously was based in Iraq for over three years, covering the country for The New York Times, the Associated Press, The World from PRX, France 24, and others. She was also an editor at Iraq’s largest English language media outlet Rudaw English in Erbil, where she oversaw a desk covering Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran.

She is most passionate about covering politics, climate change, gender and their intersections.

Yasmine studied World Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies & African Studies at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

She is a member of the Overseas Press Club of America (OPC) and Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association (AMEJA). She is Hostile Environment and Emergency First Aid Training (HEFAT) certified.
